Malmesbury Skate Festival : Wednesday 23rd – Friday 25th February 2011
With less than 6 weeks to go before the 3rd annual Malmesbury Skate Festival (near Swindon), we are keen to focus on making sure that we have a great team to support this initiative. The event is an amazing opportunity that opens up Malmesbury Abbey to the public, and welcomes skaters, scooters, and rollerbladers from around the area, to skate on a temporary skate park inside an 850 year old Abbey. In addition to the skate park there will also be a café running over the whole three days, and in the past there has been some beatbox and street dance activities that we are hoping to include this year also.
To help with this fantastic partnership between Christian Surfers UK, Christian Skaters, and Malmesbury Abbey, we are ideally looking for a team of around 10 people with a key requirement being a willingness to serve. The team is there to not only link to those who can skate well, but also to help and encourage the beginner groups, and to build a good rapport with the public as they come to the event. A typical day is a long but good fun one, and will start early in the morning with a team meeting with prayer before the first session, and will last right the way through till about 9.30pm at night. Each sessions will focus on a particular age group, ie Under 12’s, Beginners, open session, or activity ie Skate or scooter.
During this event we have always been incredibly well looked after by the Malmesbury Abbey team, and this year is no different, as they will provide accommodation and meals over the three days for those helping out. The commitment we are asking from you therefore is simply for your time and your efforts. If you have been involved before, or if you would like to get involved for the first time, then please get in contact with myself, Phil Williams as soon as possible, either by phone 07774138143 or emailphil@christiansurfers.co.uk.
This is an amazing opportunity to share our faith in a relevant way in this great market town community, and we are really looking forward to continuing this partnership into its third year. |
