Well it all started in school when i had to do an English oral, i did an oral on “Mackey in the kitchen” and basically demod a recipe. well my mates thought it was hysterical and started calling me “Mackey in the kitchen” which slowly got shortened down over the years to Mackers. so ya thats how that came about, but i think everyone has their own personalized nickname for me, from Maca, Smackers to Makatini ect..

2) How did you get the nickname Mackers?

4) What got you hooked on surfing?
My brother tuning me to stop drop-kneeing on my body board and just start surfing..

5) What got you hooked on God?
Grew up in a Christian home and just experiencing the gifts God gives us and sharing in the beauty he has created is enough to keep me hooked.

6) Where is your favourite surf spot? Why?
My favourite surf spot right now is ‘Mars Hill’ a secret spot up the North Coast of Durban that nobody else surfs but the A-Team. There are always barrels there, evan when the onshore is blowing.

7) If you could eat anything right now what would it be?
Hmmm well just had chicken curry for lunch, so i am gonna have to say a Koeksister would go down really well right now.

8) If you could go anywhere in the world now, where would you go and why?
Indo, no explanations needed…

9) How irritating are the Traffic Police in Mozambique?
I love them, they make your trip exciting. there is nothing better than trying to outsmart a cop and being successful!

10) Do you have any advice for anyone out there reading this?
Ah …always take a scale with ya to Mozam so that u don’t get ripped off trying to buy a kg of cashew nuts. Also make sure you don’t invite me on your trip if you wanna score good waves, cause i have the Mozam. curse when it comes to getting skunked for waves. i been 5 times and neva gotten good waves. I’m off to Ponto again this weekend, i will let ya know how it turns out ha ha pray for me!
