The aim of Short Term Missions Trips are to be a catalyst for Long Term Outreaches or to support a missions that currently run there. We took a team of 5 passionate surfers to share our Faith with the people of Swakopmund and here is what happened:
We got there late Saturday evening…
Sunday we had some good waves at Guns (sorry no time for pics!) We spoke at Shofar Church and fellowshipped with the guys there.
Monday we did an Outreach with Hope Promise – they place orphans in Christian homes and help support the families. The Outreach went really well – the kids had lots of fun and we were are to share Jesus with them.
On the Tuesday and Wednesday we did School Ministry at Namib High – Telling the children what our organisation is about, sharing testimonies, On The Rocks http://www.ontherocksdvd.info/about/the-search , chatting to them about choices.
Wednesday afternoon we went into the dunes and had some fun!
Thursday we kept open for shooting and filming – got some amazing waves up the coast. Mik kept on saying that his last wave was his best wave ever!
After surfing for over 4 hours straight we went to Cape Cross. About 2 years ago there was a major seal attack on a local surfer. Through this attack Jesus has been able to do an amazing thing in the guy’s life – luckily we were able to interview him… Will let you know when amazing short story will be released.
Getting ready for supper – Thanks to the Rossi’s for their house!
Friday morning we were at the German High School and able to speak to pupils there.
Then a quick photo shoot by the shipwreck!
Friday afternoon we did a Learn To Surf Clinic and we had about 20 groms come. Was awesome to see how God used us & surfing to be able to bring Joy to the kids!
Friday night we lead Youth at Shofar Church. We ran the first episode of On The Rocks http://www.ontherocksdvd.info/about/the-search and did the questions with them. Then Jonty finished it off with his testimony – so awesome to see him use his evangelic gifting!
Saturday morning we ran a Surf Contest for the locals. It started with a Tag Team event – each team consisted of older ballies and young guns…
Then we had a grom contest! Definitely some talent to watch out for 🙂
We ended off with a Grom Expression Session. Check out the Cockroach move! Unfortunately the waves were too small to run a full contest for the older guys.
Later that day we had the prize giving and braai at Chris’ house.
All of us had a great trip – God stretched and grew us.
