Skate for Change – Time to give back!

  1. Skate for Change – Time to give back!

    July 14, 2010 by Chris van der Merwe

    Puddy Zwennis professional skateboarder is going to raise fund for SOS Children’s Village by skateboarding all the way from Johannesburg to Cape Town! According to Puddy;

    “Life can be hard and full of challenges and it can be very difficult to make the right choices and therefore living life like God intended, but what if you don’t have a choice, what if there is no other alternatives, what if your cards are already dealt, what if the ways of the world pushed you in a direction which you had no control over!

    I had everything I could wish for, even the things we took for granted, like a warm bed to sleep in at night and a delicious plate of food every day. I went to school, not always loving the idea, but I was blessed, I received an education. Life has always been good to me, I never had any shortcomings.

    As a professional skateboarder one has a lot of perks, I got sponsored by many commodities and has travelled the world, I definitely do not have anything to complain about, actually I should thank God for all the things I have received.

    But the question is what if…

    What would have happened if I was not protected by my loving parents and received the love and support I have received. Would I be where I’m today? Who knows, I cannot say. One thing I am sure of is that my life thus far has been a very exciting journey.

    That is why it is time for me to return the favour.

    I will travel with my skateboard from Johannesburg to Cape Town and it will take me 3 months and 1800km to reach my goal.

    We do not choose in what circumstances we are born in, but we can choose to make a difference and give these children a chance in life.”
